The Playback Theater group "Kartoshkes Ensemble – The Modern Bonfire Theater": In a playback Theater performance we listen to true stories that emerge from the audience and dramatize them on the spot using acting, movement and live music. Your story will "come to life" with the playback performance of "Kartoshkes Ensemble"! We offer Playback Theater performances: for the Private sector, different Organizations, Open performances at 'Beit Hayoutzer', Tel Aviv port, hangar 22 and Co-existence performances.
Performances for organization
‘Kartoshkes Ensemble’ reaches organizations and different workplaces, in order to meet the employees, to enable them to meet and learn to know each other in a different way than during their routine life at work and accompany them in organizational processes.
Our team performs stories that are told by the employees and their Managers. The stories describe real and specific situations that happened in the past, members of our ensemble will inact these stories for the participants on the spot by improvising the story without planning ahead, using drama, movement, and music.
The improvisation work by the actors in the ‘Playback’ theater, ‘kartoshkes’, constitute a mirror to a teamwork, that is relevant to any field of work. Through the performance the audience gets a firsthand experience with fruitful cooperation, bringing and receiving ideas, initiatives, concessions and more.
The nature of the show will change according to the specific needs of the organization and the event. Before each performance we will coordinate the special expectations, in order to lead the preparation for the organization.

Performances of co-existence and acceptance of the other
Since our performance is based on real stories, we are being exposed to different types of audience. Our aim is to bridge and connect people, communities and attitudes.
Pursuing this goal, we work with different populations and often, those who are in conflict. We perform also among people from the Palestinian Authority at their places, despite being Israelis. We are doing that because we believe in doing peace and promoting co-existence with artistic means. The method we work with, the Playback technique, is built on cooperation elements, listening and creative in-depth reflection and response.
The Playback technique is a special instrumental technique that passes these elements, in an experiential way and focuses on the human aspect. In every story that is told by a Palestinian or an Israeli, you can see his humanity – all the stories are based on the most basic feelings of humans.
In our performance we can feel the change among our audience, that result in the ability to express feelings that are associated with violence, serious fear, hate and yet unable to remember the good things, and mostly dream... to dream together of a better world, a world of peace and mutual respect.
Private shows
Want to remember an event? Kartoshkes Ensemble appears in private events. Silver or Gold wedding anniversaries, Bachelor Party, Bar/Bat mitzvah, Birthdays of 40th, 50th, 60th, 70th, 80th and 90th or more.
You invited everyone, had filled the tables with lots of goodies, but what to do now?
The team of kartoshkes will listen to the stories of family and friends and will show them to you through ‘Playback Theatre’. Your funniest, exiting and special life stories will become in an instance of improvisation a performance of acting, movement, singing and live music. So get a one-time experience unforgettable!
How do we do it?
We will learn to understand the context of the event and its purpose. For example, a surprise party to honor silver wedding or a birthday event. We will ask about the technical details: date, place (we appear throughout the country), number of participants, etc. For example: at the Center of the country, and intended for 100 people. The moderator of the performance will talk first with those who commissioned the event, in order to coordinate and match the performance to the nature of the event and the spirit of the people. In a Birthday event, for example, the performance will be built around the central person who the event is done for her/him. All stories (if you choose to) focus on different periods of her/his life and the moderator of the performance will refer and concentrate in regard to human activities, and its immediate surroundings that will be part of the event.
Open shows
Every few months ‘Kartoshkes’ performs at the 'Beit Hayotzer' (Tel Aviv port), performance that is open to the public. The ensemble members art improvising stories that are told by the audience spontaneously. In these events you can get the impression of our work and enjoy a quality evening, artistic and exciting, enjoying a cup of coffee or a glass of beer.
